I'm looking at buying a new Freedom Jetstream 1st Class, however with all of the stories of roof linings dropping etc. I'm a little concerned.
Does anyone know if the insulation problem that seems to blight older models has been fixed, or is it just something that all Freedom caravan owners will have to look forward to?
We had a 1992 Freedom Sunseeker in 1998 and the lining on that was not hanging down. I think it's a problem that affects them after many years. Hopefully others will be able to confirm how old they were when the problem started.
The freedoms are a GRP shell so the problem is with gluing the roof lining to the shell. But on the other hand, although that is a problem, the GRP means they last a long time. You win and you lose!

Ye, I suppose it's either put up with the possibility of leaks on a normal build caravan, or put up with the possibility of the lining dropping on a Freedom.
The thing is I'm kind of limited to what I can tow by my car, it's a little Citroen C3, and I don't want to change the car (it gets great mileage) plus I'm single so I don't need a huge van, but prefer something bigger than the tiny teardrop vans I've seen.
I think I may have to take a day trip to Stafford sometime and have a look at them myself.
We sold ours last June, it was a 2005 model and the lining was perfect. Everybody that enquired about it asked about the lining and also if it had any crazing or cracks in the bodywork. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another if we wanted one, great to tow and manoeuvre.
I was certainly very impressed with the build quality and probable longevity of ours. The vans are small but they really work. We had 5 in ours for a while. One slept in the awning. Towed with a Mini Metro.
Cheers for the info Navver, fortunately I won't be trying to squeeze 5 in mine (if I decide to get one, which currently is highly likely) it's just me for the time being.
I have a sunseeker, and love it. Only the 2 of us and 3 small dogs. If need more room get an awning for it. We bought ours new in 2012, so no problems with lining as yet, but would rather have that problem than leaking!
------------- Enjoy life while you can, none of us know what's round the corner!
I have a 2006 Jetstream, no signs of sagging. Definitely get an awning will more than double your living space. We towed it to Switzerland with Yaris. Fab!
