Morning all
Time to renew that caravan insurance, does anybody use Saga for their insurance? If so have you had to claim and did it go smoothly? Thanks in advance Trevor
Hi
I usually go on recommendations from people but have done my car insurance with Saga and the price was very good. After saying that the cheapest is not always the best.
We have recently used Saga for a home insurance claim ( a foot through the ceiling). From telephone call to them to completion of the work, which included repairing hole, two coats of emulsion on the ceiling, 2 coats of emulsion on hall, stairwell and upper corridor, was 11 days.
I have no idea of cost, other than the £50 excess payable. I have never had such fast and seamless service.
Would like to assume that their caravan insurance is as good.
I have been with them for yrs, for home & car. The one claim I have had with them for home insurance was handled well enough. Renewal premium is always higher though & on all my insurances with them I shop around at renewal time & they invariably match the lower quote. This is essential whoever you are with though as its how the insurance industry works.
We had fantastic service from them when we claimed for or car after it had been vandalised but the cost went through he roof the year after so we changed.
Had they not done this we would have stayed with them and they would be getting money back in our premiums, stupid really how the industry works.
I have my caravan insurance with Saga because they gave the best price.
I also used to have car Insurance with them but they just got more expensive at renewal time and could get a better deal elsewhere but never claimed on either..

It is a fool who has to say something.
No probs with a claim on car insurance a few years ago. I change every couple of years and am now back with Saga after a couple of years with NFU. If you stay too long with one provider they esculate the premiums. Am looking at house insurance at mo as Pearl seem to have got a bit greedy so it looks like that may be going to Saga. Our paper recycling box is certainly kept topped up curtesy of them...Mick
We have both car insurance and home & contents insurance with 'Saga' mainly because they are competitive and if you phone them you get through to a human rather than the normal robotic push button malarkey. We have never made a claim from 'Saga' but they do have a good reputation for customer satisfaction. My caravan is currently insured with 'Caravan Guard' but 'Saga' was slightly cheaper last year by about £6 but considered it was a waste of time changing for the sake of a small amount. In saying that, my caravan is 16 years old so it will be difficult to get any insurance for under £80 due to the admin fees etc. so I just stay with 'Caravan Guard' unless the price rises excessively. However, 'Caravan Guard' have a good reputation on this forum and their telephone system is identical to 'Saga' so try asking for a quote because you also get a discount if you mention UK Campsite as well.
