Hello

I am new to site and caravan in. Last year I purchased a swift 470/2 caravan from the in laws. Over the last 2 years they have noticed worsening spongy feeling of floor around kitchen area. They informed me that the floor may be delamination, from advice they were given. I purchased a kit last month. However I fear things may be a bit more serious.

After lifting carpet I've come across a few splits to the plywood. The actual wood itself feels firm,even around the splits. The ply as a whole feels good.

My question is, Do I continue to use delamination kit to firm up existing floor and put another layer of wood on top?

The underside of the caravan is good.

Hi johnboy I think I'd be tempted to go ahead and do the repair providing the splits are not straight through the wood, I did that repair on my 1st caravan,
The job looked like it would be a nightmare but it was quite easy and the results were brilliant

Unfortunately the splits are straight through the wood. Worst split is 9 inches.

ok I still think I'd give it a go as you put a plastic sheet over the top whilst the glue sets, The glue should hold the wood together when done, if that fails you could overlay it then.
The trouble with overlaying it is it will affect cupboard & fridge openings could also affect tables and making beds due to height difference

hi johnboy i did my floor a few years ago quiet easy to do but can be a bit messy make sure you dont go all the way through plywood also if you can suport the floor from underneath hope this helps.

Hi Allan! I also did a similar repair last year. Very pleased with end result.
Make sure you put plastic or something on floor under caravan to catch any of the gung that seeps through flooring, especially in view of the "splits"!
I finished off with a laminate look flooring (professionally fitted).
Job done!

hello, I also did that repair last year and it worked a treat. regarding the splits on top you could try just brushing pva over the whole area once the resin job is done

few wee tips, support the floor from underneath using axle stands/jacks etc. lay polythene over the top and weight it down using wheels/gas bottles etc. it is a messy job, it stinks. wear old clothes and dont be a muppet like me and work backwards towards the door. keep your old carpet as a template for the new one.
