We got a towsafe report saying it was unsuitable for our kia the towball is all8wed 75 but the coachman is 140 noseweight but the bailey we are tradung had a noseweight on the towsafe of 130 and it didnt say that was unsuitable it just said caution. Can you get the noseweight down feom 140
140 nose weight is very high, not many vehicles can take that much load.
You know from your last thread your nose weight is 75kg and you have been shown how to use a nose weight gauge so I'm not sure what the issue is, you can't resoove it on a forum you need to load your van up and weigh it. If you can't get it to 75kg don't tow it. When loading don't move heavy items to the rear to try and reduce the weight, this will provide an unstable tow. Heavy items on the floor over the axle is best.
Even so, reducing the noseweight is a bad idea. It won't be designed for 140kg though. I think Alko hitches are limited to 100kg. We have a Coachman Laser that runs at 95.
If it's shown as unsuitable, that tells you all you need to know. The 85 per cent is a different issue. There are several factors to consider when assessing a tow match, and noseweight is a very importantt one, affecting stability as it does.
It was pointed out to you in a thread yesterday morning that the noseweight of your caravan needs to be between around 75kg & 100kg so Glossop man is only telling you what you already knew from reading this forum.
Also pointed out yesterday was that as your car only allows 75kg you need to set the noseweight of your caravan at 75kg.
I think you need to stop looking at computer generated car/caravan matching sites & take advice only from ukcs.
Thanks Billy I think you are right I am worrying unnessisarily.I phoned coachman as I was that worried my hubby went mad.Coachman said the nosewight is 50kgs unladen before you put anything in the front and its only usually fully laden if you pack everything in the front .He said the same as you. also its saying estimated and that's a ridiculous estimate anyway The guy I actually spoke to tows a coachman amara with a kia sportage no problems .You pay money to go on the towsafe website and they frighted the bloody life out of you.Hubby dosent have the problem its just me worrying if the grandkids come and it starts snaking ect .Thank god your all here to help and to put my mind at rest
