Having had awnings and tents for the past 30 yearsI think I know how to deal with condensation......wrong!!!! Nothing I did would stop the condensation pouring off our Kampa Rally AIr Pro. I noticed the 2015 model has air vents in the apex so started phoning round to see if anyone would modify my awning. I must say I have great admiration for two of the companies I spoke to, both giving me advice that would loose them the job. Manuelz in Baldock advised me to contact Kampa first, and if I had no joy only then would they consider doing it. Kampa gave me the name of the comapny they use for alterations and repairs, Trio Pair. Lovely lady on the phone has just saved me a lot of hassle and money by telling me to tie a cotton sheet as a roof lining....job done. Now can't wait till next weekend to try it out!

We get it in on our non air Rally in early and late season and I may try the sheet idea this year. Its same principle of roof liners we used to have in our folding camper so I know it can work stop condensation forming and falling.

Didn't sue to suffer as much in our last Fiesta as it had front vents we left open

I've had a look at photos of accessories and see that the inner tent has toggles, so the awning must have associated points. I'm taking a sheet and toggles and sew as I go. The lady on the phone said it had to be a cotton sheet and that the roof linings were the same as tent material so wouldn't absorb the air moisture.

Good tip, but we are trying to stop the condensation dripping on the radio controlled transmitter and batteries for the planes my OH flies.!!! We bought the awning soley for storage.

kampa roof liner is nylon and expensive ( which is why I didn't get it but will measure up my ACE for the cotton sheet idea

I'd be over the moon with having to hang a cotton sheet up must look great.
Given the price of these air awnings I'll stick with what we've got and no condensation!

Is this a problem with all awnings or just the air ones?

as of yet I don't own a van, but I'll be buying on in a matter of weeks, and if it is something that all awnings suffer from I'll know what to expect.

It is not the sheet or roof lining material that prevents condensation. It is the fact that the liner acts as a "condensation" board the same as you have in the caravan and a draught is created and no more condensation.
We have the 2015 Air Ace and leave the vents open at the top and no condensation so we are cancelling the order for the roof lining.

Our old standard awning had air vents at the centre pole, but if you read the tent forum it is a general problem. The new Kampa has air vents above the door so we may try leaving a gap in the door to begin with. I think because we are out and about all year it is more apparent. We didn't have a problem in the summer. Going back to the sheet liner, the trailer tents have them, as do many marquees, it will just add a bit of glamour. As an ex tenter it wont be any different than adding the inner tent sleeping compartment. If we'd known about the condensation would we have bought differently? No, we bought the air awning as we both have irregular heartbeats and can get out of breath doing nothing so we couldn't even have an awning until the airbeams came on the scene.
iank01, where are the vents in the Ace? If it comes to having them added I need to know where to put them!!!

The only way to stop condensation imo is to put a floor down that is NOT breathable.

The vents are on either side at the top in the corner where the awning fits up against the caravan. we never zip our awning right down to the ground on both sides prefering to leave a gap to allow the cooler air into the awning area.
