Not quite right as you would have nearly 900kg weight on the remaining tyre on the side of the blowout as the load would not spread aropund evenly.
8 ply tyres are for vans etc! A caravan is only the weight of a car, no need to have 8 ply tyres! Some trailer tyres designed for 2+ tonnes have reinforced tyres
Tyre load ratings here. Its the number on the sidewall after size. That number tells you load rating of tyre in kg on chart in link. ratings of the 2 or 4 tyres must add up to more than caravan loaded weight.
It matters not whether tyres are 8ply van tyres or not provided total load rating is sufficient. Larger single axle caravans will usually require van tyres to achieve this.
As someone says, if a tyre blows on a twin axle there is a lot more pressure on the remaining tyre on that side. I like to have good tyres on our caravan and horse trailer. Just my preference. One area where I am not going to save a few pence.
