Hi, can anyone help me out….i need to reseal the awning rail and fit a new insert. The insert is not the usual 12mm curved insert that goes along the side its the one that goes above where the awning itself slides on. its like a V shape or a correction mark/thick. Thanks in advance for your help.
The awning rail insert trim slides through the awning rail merely to cover the self tapping screws so basically it is designed for cosmetic purposes. The only remaining part is the channel where the awning bead slides through so I don't know what insert you are actually referring to. If you can post a picture it may help to identify which insert you mean.

Some vans have a rail which is actually the joint of roof and side wall to which the true awning rail is fixed. So the actual rail and insert is on the roof so to speak.
The insert varies from make to make IE from 15mm to 32mm.
I think one of the Foreign vans has something like a 50mm black insert on top. My last van had a 21mm grey insert in a rail which was about level with 3/4 of top half of door. PS is it a gutter rail to take away water from off roof instead running on to awning roof being a tick shape ?? as tango 55 says can you up load photo
Ok I can only put the pictures on my profile..... So if you click on my profile you will see 3 pictures on the right.... Click on each one to view in a bigger window.
Hi willjim, did you find out what that tick shaped strip was all about? I have a 1983 eldiss amethyst, and it has the same, but only around the main awning rail. Need to change it, so any help appreciated. Many thanks
