Hi peeps, we're thinking of part x'ing our 05 bailey 460/2 c/van,(or may sale privately) for a new Venus 460 or the 380, we prefer the 460 as we're use to the size, but we'll loose 55kg as its over our maximum tow weight, but giving us a payload of 138kg.
the 380 is only 995kg, giving us a 149kg payload.
so giving us a lose of 11kg on the 460, which we can live with.

The question is, if anyone on here has either one, and what they think of them, quality of build, or any problems with anything etc, very important though, do they leak.!!!!
thanks graham

Hold up, Graham, I've been busy!

We've got the 380, which I think has been discontinued in favour of the ?420. The seats were 4'6", which when folded out is fine for the bed, but tight for slonking out of an evening. We were taken by the styling; light wood, and a pleasurable lack of chinziness. It's an airy, minimalist interior; enough room for everything. Having had a mover fitted, we are quite careful with loading. Haven't used the shower yet; good to know it's there for when we go minimal.

We bought s/h, (plated 2012 but sold 2013). Overall it's a cracking little 'van, which we've dragged to the Lot and back with a 110hp Yeti. No sign of any leakage anywhere, even after a long cold damp winter. The flyscreen on the door was jammed, but with a squirt of silicone now works fine.

Good luck with your search.

oops, sorry, I'm so impatient.

we moved up from a 380, and don't want to go back if possible, I like the sound of a 420,I'll check that out.

we wont change the car, (more expense) just to get those extra kg.
also we're very happy with the 5008, 1600 diesel,115 bhp, a good little tower, I think.

thankyou for your input. graham

Have the old 500/4 Venus and love it. Good beds, light to tow (even with weight upgrade) and not a hint of a leak. Also as above got a 2012 version registered 2013.
Plenty of storage, and everything just works.

We looked at a Venus before we bought our Elddis, nice lightweight caravan, but we wre put off by the lack of a propper washable lining to the shower cubilcle, it was a 2012 model we looked at, the one with the twin fixed single beds. It also was a bit narrower than what we had been used to, which is a bit of a problem as my husband likes to sit with his legs crossed out infront of him, which would have been a tight squeeze in such a narrow caravan.

We eventually fell inlove with the Elddis Explore 530, a nice lightweight caravan with a bit higher spec than the Venus, including a fully lined shower cubicle, but we left it rather late in the season to buy, and they had sold out of this model nationwide. We were then offered our Avante at a very good price deal, and although at the time we were towing upto capacity with our old Honda Civic, we bought it, and have never regretted the decision. We were then lucky enough to be given the chance by my Dad to upgrade our car, hes elderly, lives out in a remote area, and wanted us to have a 4x4 to beable to get out to his place in an emergency during bad weather, so gave us a cash gift towards buying our CRV, which is also a brilliant towcar for the Avante, so although you say now that your towcar will not change, you may be suprised like we were, and you may indeed come to change it at some point during the time of ownership of the next caravan you buy.

Good luck with your searching, l hope you manage to get a good deal,

Julia

Undisided at the moment what to go for.
We like the idea of a lined shower cubicle, its a big comitment, so we're go to take are time, having a car with low towing kgs, is a pain, as we'd like other c/van with higher kgs.
