Ive got the milenco handle on our van, easy to fix and it feels solid, I had to get longer screws because german vans have thicker walls,there are 2 covers that fit on the inside so it gives it a nice finish

I see some of the new Bailey unicorns have a handle fitted on the inside just at side of entry. Perhaps you could fit one there rather than outside.

I saw a grab handle fitted about 2 years ago and it was one for the house.The guy just fitted it to the door frame with bolts and had big washers on it so it cant be pulled through.
