Well just arrived in Devon having been informed after 4 hours on motorway that the heiki sunroof was open!
We had van serviced 2 days ago so it looks like roofs be opened and never been closed properly!, we hadn't checked as we never have it open.
on the side of the sunroof there are a cap either side and was has come off as what looks like a nail? it's sticking out so he cap cannot be put back on, is it just a nail? That needs pushing back?
I'm hoping no damage has been done and it doesn't start to leak...
I think you have a Heki-2 roof-light, and assume the 'nail' you refer to is the pin that holds the window strut into the frame on the roof. This link shows how to remove the window for cleaning, but I post as it might clarify the pin I refer to.
As to whether any damage has occurred is impossible to answer without sight of the roof-light. Does it close fully and secure on the catches correctly?

Again a comment on problems after a service, i would agree with Jeff its your responsability to check all is safe before you tow especialy after a service.
Even though most people pay for a service to make sure everything IS ok i would still check everything.
