This is an ongoing problem but before I get the hammer out to 'fix it" 😅 I thought. I would ask the Pros. I have searched through lots of forums about this problem but cannot find one that solves my problem .
It seems that this gas cut off or difficulty to light is quite common on these cookers. It's not so much a problem to light but staying alight Yes I've held the knob in for 30 seconds , I've pushed a tiny piece of card down into the knobs hole😄 to make sure the knob is fully in . My problem is it goes out after 1 or 2 minutes , trying to grill breakfast becomes a nightmare. You can actually hear the cut out , then the flame dies. I now assume it's the thermostat but before I go ahead and purchase one I wondered if anyone has had this problem and what they have done to rectify it.
Thanks
Hi Romatone, to me it sounds like the thermocouple cutting out rather than the thermostat, (it is there to prevent gas flow if the flame should go out). Perhaps it's faulty or just not in the correct position and the thermocouple simply doesn't stay hot enough.

Hi Dave , thank you for replying. When I said thermostat I meant the coupler. I haven't had a look to see how it comes off. Have you removed one yourself? Is it part of the main knob for the grill or do you have to take the oven out. ? I see that many people have had the same prob and even giving up useing the grill. Or buying another oven , which seems an extreme. What I shall probably do is buy one and then I'll see how/ where it goes.
This is a dreadful drawing, but have a look at this link and zoom in to find item number 19 towards the top right. The thermocouple usually sits near the main jet to position within the flame to detect the burner is running. It's been a while since I had one of these ovens, but from memory you should locate it towards the left and just looks like a dark copper probe, maybe 30-40mm in length. You may find it's fallen from a clip and not sitting near the flame.
just before you move the thermocouples 'hot' end about.....
Check that the end that fits into the flame failure valve is screwed in nice and tight. Its attached with a small nut and sometimes that nut may be a little loose, therefore causing the valve to close down and shut the gas off. Worth a look as a 2 minute fix?

Every day is a gift..That's why it's called the present.
I have a Thetford CK13000 where the hob will not stay lit on one of the burners. The problem was due to a loose nut behind one of the knobs. It took 5 minutes to fix. Remove all the knobs (they just pull off) and tighten the nuts behind them.
There is a thermocouple next to each one of the hobs that detects when the gas has lit. This gives out a tiny signal that can get 'corrupted' if there is not a good earth at the knob end. Tightening up the nuts solved the problem
