Currently staying at a site just under and hour from home for first trip of the year plus first trip for our 11mth old kittens. As we were out and about today I started thinking it has potential to be a local weekend site, where if we have nothing on and looks to be at least dry we could call to see if any availability. Do many of you do this? If so how far is the site from home? Whilst normal traffic it is an hour, school holidays, accident etc it can change to 3 hours, like it did on Friday just gone! Many thanks.
We store our caravan 40 mins away - we book for the following week when we are leaving on the Sunday, if they aren't busy for that weekend then they let us leave it on the pitch, saves them moving it back into storage and us putting everything away I suppose. We just love finishing work on a Friday and heading up to the van - I could be 10 minutes away and still love it.

Thank you, we store ours at storage close to home just thinking of ways of using it more. Like you we love being away and having spent the last few years studying I want to enjoy life.
We now keep our van in storage 7 miles from home, we have done a couple of weekend at C&CC site 3 miles from my front door. We bought the van in November and used to have storage 100 miles from home, so quick weekends away didn't happen in the past. But not anymore

We travel just 20 miles for our closest weekend retreat, its like being a world away, we also travel 80 miles some weekends to meet up with family on a site. Enjoy x
We go away most weekends to sites within an hours drive. We go shopping and get everything ready Thursday night so that we can be away by 4 o'clock (finish work at 3:30 on Friday).
In fact just booked Hebden Bridge for this coming weekend about 45mins away.
We often go away at weekends to a local site, its only 20 minutes away but is adult only, very quiet, has woodland walks, two lakes, spotlessly clean shower and toilet block, dog exercise field etc etc. perfect for the last moment getaway. To be fair, it doesnt matter where you are, so long as you are jot at home
Van is in storage 15 minutes from house. We collect it the night before so we can plug in get the fridge up to speed. Pack all our clothes and food stuff for the w/e and its ready for the off on Friday when I finish, normally about five. We have a selection of caravan sites for weekend use starting from 20 minutes to the furthest which is about an hour and a half.
