Any idea of whether my parents might be eligible for compensation? May be 6 months wait for it to be repaired. It was rear ended at traffic lights by a Tesco delivery van.

What have your parents done so far in the last 6 months regarding the claim?
Have they made a complaint to their caravan insurance company in respect of the delayed time regarding the repair and if so what was the customer services reply?
Have they considered contacting the ombudsman for support?
If they paid the extra for legal expenses on their caravan insurance then see what they can do but its unlikely they will get anything. You can't really hire caravans but perhaps worth seeing if they can get a motorhome hired for any booked holidays? They will get nowhere without legal representation though.
Write to the insurer giving them 30 days to have the caravan repaired or to offer settlement.
Call them the same time each day once a week asking for a progress report.
If they fail write to the ombudsmen and at the same time go to trading standards and citizens advice and they will confirm if legal action is likely to be worthwhile.
Who is the insurer?
The power of the internet is in naming and shaming these companies.
