I need a new battery, my water will not work and I think it is the battery so I need to replace. I like to keep my caravan costs as low as possible. I always use EHU and only the water and interior lighting is used on my can via the battery. Can I get away with a 85ha battery as these are cheaper?
So you only THINK it's the battery and not ruled out any other possibilities that could be at fault.
If you want to keep your caravan costs as low as possible it will pay you to invest in a voltmeter for less than a tenner and check the battery condition first otherwise it could cost a lot more only to find that it wasn't the battery at fault after all.
If it is the leisure battery at fault then an 85 ah. battery will be fine if you only ever use electric hook up.
The battery is 6 years old and has been left without charge since Aug 2014. I know its not the pump as I carry a spare and nothing has fused so its most likely the battery or the charger. My thoughts are that the battery is probably going to need replacing at some point anyway.
The manufacturers usually recommend a charge up at least once a month if not being used.
I put mine on a motorcycle Optimate in the garage over winter and also keep the battery somewhere warm...that way the battery lasts longer and keeps it charge .
