How do you drain it down? plus OH thinks that if you are not going to be using the heating, you can just drain it down and leave until the autumn, is this ok? If not, what is the best antifreeze to use?
I'm not sure as I don't have Alde heating but I think you will find that the manufacturer also includes a rust inhibitor as well as an anti-freeze. That's what I was told anyway as they have to check the strength of the additive on the annual service.
Maybe someone else can offer advice on this.

I think I have answered OH's question (and he's an ex-plumber), you need the fluid to get hot water, as it's a combi boiler. Still don't know how to drain down though.
You don't drain it down. It has antifreeze in the system. It works the same way as your heating at home. The fluid circulating through the system heats the hot water. You only need to drain down the water.

But maybe Mrs.B wants to drain out the old anti freeze stuff as it's past it's sell by date.
Strangely enough two dealers I have been it in the last week both have large amounts of the Alde solution near their tills. Must be trying to remind people of something.

As well is two words!

Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
On our Conqueror 645 the drain valve is next to the boiler it has a yellow handle in the heating system water/antifreeze remains in the system and only requires topping up Our tank is in the wardrobe I use Comma super coldmaster antifreeze + water to do this Although it is recommended the antifreeze is changed at two years you can get five year stuff now
The hot water to the taps works by a jacket system and you can run the heating without any water in the system
Thanks, we are having a mobile servicer do it for £160, saves OH faffing around. 5 year fluid as well. We had another mobile man service the van back in February and when we asked about the Alde, he said he would get back to us, but he neve rhas, despite a reminder.
