We own a Sterling 460 and are looking to buy a small easy to put up lightweight porch awning with a max budget of £200.
We have resisted buying an awning for our first two years of caravan ownership, as we hear that they are way up there in terms of creating arguments and the potential for divorce!
Bearing this in mind, does anyone have any suggestions?
We have two awnings, porch and full size. Before we went on our first caravanning holiday we had a dry run on putting awning up to avoid any verbal abuse and arguments on site!.
10 years on and no divorce.
We don't find it any trouble putting up either one of our awning, in fact they are, I think, quite straight forward.
Full size awning came with the van. Bought the porch awning couple of years ago on e bay, under 200 pounds. Not the bestest of quality, but adequate. Porch awning is a two bay one 2.4 x 2.4m estimate and is very light to carry, though if buying again would go little bigger. Before you buy measure width against your van though to see where the awning is in relation to windows, and door opening.

For 200 quid (or less) you could have our porch awning. Its a fiamma zip, it goes in a bag in your awning rail, can be used as just a sunshade or you can zip the sides and front on and have a heavy duty, fully curtained porch awning 3m x 2.9m. In grey only been used a few times.
Using it just as a sunshade only takes 5 minutes and you are done. The full thing takes about 20 minutes to be fully pegged down. We specifically wanted something easy to erect.
We got a bigger van so tend not to use an awning as much these days.
We also have a full and a porch awning, and like we did when we went camping under canvas, we have a trial run at putting awnings up.
We bought or porch awning whilst we were away for a weekend trip, and saw it advertised on site, it was few years old but the people wanted to get rid as the are now on a seasonal pitch, paid £20 it is an outdoor revolution. it has 2 poles and is up in 10 minutes.
You asked if anyone had any suggestions on a budget of £200 which suggests that you were looking to buy a used second hand lightweight porch awning. However, you did receive answers based on your question but it may have been helpful if you had said that you only wanted to purchase a new awning from Amazon with vouchers to the value of £200.
Our awning can be bought on Amazon but is £85 over your budget and more than we paid 1.5 years ago. It's a Sunncamp Crown.
The first time we put it up together, took us nearly 4 hours and we nearly murdered the kids. Now OH can put up alone in about 45 mins.
We bought a cheapo sunncamp 390 awning a few years back for sub £200 and expected it to be a nightmare to put up and to be as robust as a wet paper bag. How wrong we were on both counts! Easy to put up with just 4 fibreglass poles and 4 lightweight metal ones. Has withstood some properly nasty wind and rain too with no problem. We have used it on 2 caravans and we cannot fault it for the price. Its not posh, its not the smartest but is does what an awning is designed for - it gives us extra space out of the rain (usually) or shade from the sun (not so usual).
------------- Why am i doing this instead of camping??!!
