Hi all. Have camped for the past 50 plus years in all types of outfit from basic tents to trailer tents and caravans, switching from one to another at 5 yearly intervals. Last outfit was a transcamper trailer tent in which my family toured Northern Europe visiting wwI and wwII. Family now reduced to just my wife and I with a Daughter so last year downsized to a crappy old caravan, an Elddis whirlwind cica 1982 complete with two awnings, gas, water waste and fresh containers. Infact all that was needed to go straight out and camp. No more endless pegging. Small damp patch in upper wall of toilet rebuilt by me and all outside mouldings removed and resealed. Now completely watertight and good to go. Did Scottish highlands last year and going to N. Yorks forest park this year. I feel that it has given me a new lease of life and really enjoying doing all refurb and maintenance myself. Now looking like new (both me and the van). recommend anyone going to seed kit themselves out with one of these - beats all the cures for old(er) age.
Keep contributing as this is a great site.
Thing is, once you done the work, it doesn't need doing again and maintenànce is nothing more than cleaning up after a trip. . .and checking tyre pressures visually. . .
