Hi folks
Following a call to Powertouch I am advised that the new 4G mast that has gone up and online in the last few weeks has stopped my mover from functionong properly.
We bought the van on 13/03/15 and had a new Powrtouch Evolution mover fitted by the dealer.
All was well with it at up to the end of last month and a trip to Loch Lomond but when we came to Monday 27/04/15 it didn't want to work properly. If I moved the remote over 2 metres from the control box I lost control and it just stopped. I really struggled to get it onto the road and when I did it packed up totally.
We arrived at the campsite, Arrow Bank near Leominster, at it worked perfectly. We returned home today 30/04/15 and it doesn't want to work and having the same problem.
I called Powrtouch and after throwing around some ideas they suggested my wireless broadband might be a factor but nothing has changed with it but that reminded me that the 4g mast just 50 metres up the road caused problems with the Freeview. A phone call and a free issue gizmo sorted that but they don't want to know about this problem.
Powrtouch now claim it is nothing to do with them and I will have to sort it with the 4g companies.
I am currently trying to get hold of Ofcom, Hmmmmm!!!!, but wondered if any body else has had problems?
My powrtouch mover came with a long extension cable like you use for headphones. if I remember correctly it was for use were interference from powerlines or other electrical interference could cause problems. Does your model have this feature available?
Sorry for not getting back sooner bkb but can advise that the new mover doesn't need the cable as it is so reliable. Hmmmmm! My old one had that lead as well.
Powrtouch have been great so far and are still working on a permenant answer to the problem.
We recently visited 5 sites in the South West and it worked perfectly.
With contact from Ofcom and Powrtouch it is proved the G4 mast is the problem.
Just to update.
PowrTouch have been fantastic and came to the house to test things.
After half an hour or so they verified that the 4G mast was causing problems that they had not experienced before.
They left after another hour or so and I now have a fully functional mover. Don't ask about the cure though!!
Strange things can happen, when I use my Powrtouch to manoeuvre my van from my rear garden its triggers the house alarm so I have to carry two remotes one for the mover and one to cancel the house alarm. This does not happen every time about 1 in 5 times.
They probably connected a laptop to the receiver and told it to use a different frequency.
To be fair I'm surprised this feature isn't available for the home user to set. I mean home routers can be set to use different frequencies, and its a lot more dangerous if a caravan is no longer under your control because of local 4G masts etc
