As in the title my key broke in our Alko hitchlock, luckily it was removed at the time, looking for ideas how to remove the broken piece as I have a spare key. TIA

You could try this kit first broken key
dont know what lock you have but look on the opposite side of where you put the key in and is there a small whole. if there is this is for pushing out the key when this kind of think happens.
I had exactly the same problem...and still havent managed to retrieve the broken end! All is not lost as you can purchase a new lock barrel/cylinder for about £40
Tried the superglue idea but no success, I could buy a new barrel but the old one is encased in steel which is welded to the main body, can't see any other way it can be removed.

"Simply unscrew the two small screws on the inside of the hitch lock to remove the existing lock cylinder, and then replace with new lock".
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Look on lock picking forums where you will find how to make said tools. One of which can easily remove broken key. Thats what a locksmith will do. Can be made from a broken hacksaw blade and a bench grinder or a hand file.
good luck
