Hi, I am new to this site and hope someone can help.
My Rapido caravan has an an aluminium skin with polystyrene insulation. It’s fairly old but in beautiful condition and dry as a bone inside. It didn’t cost me a lot, so I don't want to spend a fortune on it. I started to dig out a small area of aluminium ‘corrosion’ (I know that's not the correct word) and have ended up with a hole around 8" x 10" This goes right through to the interior panelling and there is some of rotted flaking wood and soggy polystyrene insulation. I am now in the process of drying this out. I need to know what I can fill the hole with. Hopefully I can fill it with something then skim over with polyester resin. I was wondering about expanding polystyrene foam . Any helpful tips appreciated!
Stuff the hole with Isopon P40 and smooth it over exterior alloy rub down when set, thats it. Rough up alloy surface first with abrasive paper. P40 is glass rienforced car body filler and will do a permanent job.
