Does anyone know why it is so difficult to obtain an aluminium extrusion moulding strip 32mm wide. These strips which have a 13mm plastic beading were fitted to the front and rear of Avondale Godiva Caravans where the roof panel joins. I have tried a few outlets but without any joy. Does anyone know where I can purchase one or a suitable 32mm alternative moulding. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
If it just fits over the join and doesn't fit inbetween to join the panels, try googling "aluminium cover strip". I bought something along those lines down here a year or so ago and that is what it was called.
Something like this: 32mm Aluminium strip
Hi
Thanks again for your replies. I have also tried O'Learys as well but still no luck. It may be that I will have to fit a 32mm Aluminium strip as Alan has suggested but this half moon strip does not have a central groove to allow for screwing into the panel and the wooden baton behind and it will have to be somehow bonded on unless you want the screws showing. Why does a seemlessly easy job present such huge problems! Do all new caravan manufacturers in the World not now have 32mm aluminium mouldings with plastic inserts on their caravans? This is a good start to a pastime leisure that I was hoping to enjoy!!!
Try FM caravan service and spares HUll they use to buy most of the surplus stock off caravan manufactures when models and design changed.
Also lot of breakers are now buying up surplus stock.
Leisure Spares carry a lot of this sort of gear
If it needs a central strip fro screwing what about the strip they use for joining carpet in doorways like this:cover strip
assuming you can find it in the right width.
