The owner has cut off some lower dead branches from other trees, but he is still letting out the same pitches even now he knows the risk to caravans parked there. It's all about profit, not customer care nowadays.

Maybe you'd feel the same as the owner if your livelihood depended on the number of pitches you can fill.

Perhaps you'd like to explain where you feel it would be unacceptable for an owner to cut corners?

Would unsafe electrics be acceptable for an owner to cut corners?

I've not said anything about cutting corners, so not sure what you are trying to get at. Cut or uncut there is always a chance a branch or tree could give way, same as with tested electrics to tie in with your point (?). It doesn't mean they are 100% safe because they have been tested and sometimes things can and do go wrong which is beyond anyone's control.

The risk of falling tree branches is small, the op was unlucky, maybe should have thought about what might happen on this particular pitch if the wind got up, I would.

The OP might wish to advice his Insurance Company, of his Posts in this topic. Given that he has "publicly" admitted that he was aware of the "potential" risk from a branch falling. Which he pointed out to the Camp Site Owner.

In any insurance claim, you are required not to admit to any sort of Liability, something the OP has publicly done, by stating he was aware of the potential risk. And pointed out this risk to the Camp Site Owner

Failure to disclose the admission, could prove very costly, if the information was to come to the attention, of either the Sites Insurance Company, or his Own. Dependant on who paid out.

Insurance companies, look to Void a Policy for any reason possible. Seems the OP might have shot himself in the foot, by posting on here, before contacting the Insurance company. And by admitting being aware of the potential risk, before the accident happened.

Dave

Davep... No were have I said I knew about the trees before I pitched up. if you are going to comment on my thread then please read it all first. I have not said " I was aware of the "potential" risk from a branch falling." After the damage to my van the owner said he had not maintained the trees for years. Get your facts right before accusing me of anything.... So Davep please Edit and remove your untrue comments. I only spoke to the owner about the state of the trees after the damage to my caravan not before..

When a tree fell down and crushed my car, it was owned by the council and because they had a duty of care to ensure that tree & over hanging branches should be safe or could be likely to be unsafe, they had to compensate.

Hi,
Sad times we live it. 'Something happened to my stuff thats no ones fault. Someone must pay.....but not me!' As has been said do the right thing and take the hit yourself!

You camp in the countyside surely trees and wind are part and parcel of that!

Shaun.

Totally agree

Next time, stay at home if its windy, or camp away from a tree
