I've been given an outdoor revolution oxygen speed 2 awning by a friend who is no longer caravanning.
It's in good nick other than the last time they used it it was packed away wet & they never dried it out when they got home.
Does this mean it's ruined or is there a way of getting it cleaned up?

It's probably ruined that's why it's been given away as it's easier to do it that way and let somebody else dispose of it. I got caught out twice in the distant past unfortunately.

If it's a canvas type material it will most likely have rotted depending on the time scale since packed away wet but if it's a nylon type material you may be able to salvage it but you won't know till you unroll it and have a visual look at it first.
I bought a porch awning last year for just over £40 but there was oil streak marks on the interior roof and side panel. Because of the nylon type material I used washing powder and a light brush to clean it up. Although it took me about 2 hours to clean it then wash it down with clean water it came up like new again.

Hi, other threads have suggested warm soapy water and gentle washing motion, so as not to affect the water proofing. I've had a go and it makes a slight difference, will try again this spring .. Oh, wait, its spring now! OK, when it gets drier. Lol. If needed I'll wash it harshly and then reproof (mine is canvas so a dose of beeswax and linseed oil should do the trick) I've also been using a Speedy Stitcher sewing awl (easy to get online) to fix the stitching that's given way and it works really well. ( the guy I got it cheap from thought he was doing me a favour... maybe.) If it still looks yuk will probably try canvas paint and reproof. Having said that, I'm a skint full timer who is interested in sustainable living, self-reliance and "make do and mend". (I may have to make that my sig!)

If its man made material it won't have waterproofing it's the denier of the material that keeps the water out .

Sorry, my bad, I meant to be more precise, you shouldn't use detergents or chemicals to clean canvas, but you can use pure soap flakes, as per this thread on this website.

Cleaning canvas tents

Pure soap is mentioned on a number of other sites if you care to Google it, so you'll have to make your own choice on wether to use it or not. Everyone seems to be in agreement that multiple rinses with water are required though.
