our 2 year old Elddis Rambler 20/4 has a cracked rear panel already! Wandahome spotted it on the annual inspection & we are awaiting a replacement, it would appear that this problem has been known about for 2 years, due to the GRP being thin, those with transverse beds may be surprised by sunshine shining thro' the roof.We may also have problems with the mini Hekis. Not just a problem of two years ago, still is one. Eldiss will blame the manufacturer of the panel (Lamplas?) and they will blame Eldiss for poor fitment.

If the cracks are just in the bottom outer corners of the panel, dont expect to get a full panel replacement. This problem has been so common with Elddis caravans over the past couple of years, that they have now designed and approved some fancy shaped end caps, which are applied over the cracks and bonded with the same compound that the rest of the caravan is made from.
We took a look around our dealers yard a couple of weeks ago, and were suprised at just how many of the Elddis caravans on his forecourt and service yard had actually had this modification done.

Bailey had similar issues on vans a few years ago with cracks to the top side of the rear panel (near the awning rails). Our 2008 van had a new panel fitted in 2012 and our previous Ranger had the same issue. To be fair Bailey have always replaced the panels under warranty without issue but I have heard of other manufacturers only willing to offer a repair. Not sure if Bailey have had this since they moved to AluTec but its disappointing to hear Elddis are still getting issues, "e are considering a new van next year and have been put off Elddis by reports on other forums about Elddis only been willing to replace panels on vans less than a few years old which isn't our experience with Bailey.
