Just bought a new van and me being new to caravanning I thought I'd ask a daft question.
I've found what looks like a power socket underneath where the EHU cable plugs into the van (its an Xplore 304) however the socket is blanked off (it looks identical to the power sockets in the van, just with a blanking plate instead of the normal 3 pin socket)
Is this socket a possible place for an external plug to go? and all it requires is hooking up the power cables, also isn't it a bit unsafe being right next to the battery box?
sorry if its a stupid question, but like I said I'm fairly new to caravans and wasn't really sure what it is.
Very often a socket may be fitted with a blank plate because it is no longer a socket. A previous owner may have fitted on which didn't comply and it has been removed and the cables isolated. take the lid off and see whats inside.
However, if you want an outside socket it must be properly IP rated and correctly installed.

I always carry a very basic mains tester plug which is ideal to find out if it's live and whether it is safe to use or not which would be ideal in your situation which is a quick and simple task.
