Hi my wife and I are new to this Caravanning stuff lol, we are thinking about taking out the shower, as Sarah had a shower in the van but the water emptied halfway through so I had to rush and fill the barrel up again, and we don't want to be doing that all the time.
So I'm looking at taking it out and making it into a storage area, but what do I need to do to take out the shower, if anyone could help with this it would be much appreciated thanks Jay.
Why take the shower out? plywood over the tray. and a pole with brackets each end to hang what ever on if need be.Just unscrew the shower head and pipe. That way you can sell on in the future with a shower in the van.
------------- Roughing it in style at Calloose caravan and camping holiday park nr St Ives.(seasonal pitch)
Its not a hangover, its wine flu!
I use an awful lot of water when I wash my hair in the shower so always use the site showers.
Have you considered having a 2nd 40L aquaroll on standby so you just pop out and change the pipe over to the full aquaroll. It can then be topped up at your leisure ready for next time. As suggested before cover the shower tray & put in hanging rail or storage unit.
Of course if time & money are no object take the shower out but I think it will make selling the caravan more difficult in the future.
The water will be cold if you swap to a second Aquaroll. I would be backwards and forwards all day if we showered in the van the amount of water our lot use. Our shower has only ever been used on the dog, the pipe just reaches out of the window.
Thanks for all the replies 😊, and it is an old caravan 21 years old, so don't think we would get much for it when it comes to selling it, and hardly any storage in it so that's why we want to take the shower out.
So would this be easy to do on my own with just DIY skills?

You will have to take out the shower tray, the hot and cold taps and block them off.And of course the drainage.
Don't forget to make any electrical connections safe.
i cant see as you need to take out much at all to turn a shower into a storage area.. people on here will just complicate the issue as is often the case.. :)
jay, our caravan is 22 years old and has a shower...had a shower. it was too small and dripped and way too cold for her ladyship to bother with. Undid everything and blanked off the water fittings. The only problem is some ir is trapped and it causes only minor issues now with gurgling. Something I shoulda coulda woulda fixed. just work your way through whats present and what can be removed. The loo area is now much roomier and we hang wet stuff there. Plus most sites have showers - my boss won't go anywhere else!
------------- Too old to put up a tent but still like waking up to skies and grass...not a cold hotel
When I wake up in my Orion, two paces toilet, another pace wash hands and clean teeth, another pace shower then one pace back shave.
No getting dressed, walking to shower, queueing for shower, getting undressed again, shower, get dressed again..............................
I do use site facilities for a dump though

If you decide to sell or trade in having done modificatiosn will affect the price so why take it out. Simply use the area as a storage area or alternatively buy a second aquaroll so all you need to do is change over the pump and OH is happy.
