When turning the fridge on, it tripped the site hookup point.after a reset it happened again.
Now two questions
What's causing it and why isn't it tripping the safety rcd breaker in the van?
------------- Who needs travel agents,we have our static
There are 2 switches on the post,An MCB trips on overload or a live to neutral fault,if it's that tripping then I suspect the latter.
If it is a live to neutral fault I would have expected the MCB in the van to have tripped if it is a 10A one as the site MCB would possibly be 16A. But if it the fault current is high enough there is no guarantee that the post trip won't trip.
If it's the RCD then you possibly have a fault to earth.
The RCD on the post is the same rating as the one in the caravan and there is no guarantee which one will trip.

I know when I had the fuse box converted to rcd's in my house it used to trip them as it kicked in, it seems it was a common problem, I have since updated fridge so no issues now, not sure if its a similar reason.
Possibly fridge element has had it if it's tripping electric, perhaps shorting out & drawing too much current? New element is about £40 plus cost of fitting unless you diy.
I had this problem with mine on a site last year. In my case it was (I think) due to the fact that the side of the van with the fridge was in direct sunlight for most of the day and the fridge was simply overworking. Every time we went out, we came back and the fridge had tripped the post EHU. Fortunately it was a post you could reset yourself. It never tripped the caravan rcd either. I've heard that water getting in through the vent (windy and rain at the same time) can do the same thing.
Been out to a different place since and the fridge worked fine on EHU!
If I run the fridge on 12v whilst travelling then forget to switch it off with the black master switch on arrival then as soon as I plug it into the on-site electricity it either trips the site post, the van MCB or both. I suspect it's something to do with a sudden current surge due to plugging it in.
If I turn off the master switch, plug in, then turn the master switch on again it's all fine. I can then change it from 12v to 240v.
Apart from that all our electrics and the fridge work perfectly.
