totally smitten with caravanning I would like to upgrade to a van with an island bed, oh so many! Would love the Coachman but funds will not run that far so looking at the Elddis or Swift, is it worth paying the extra for the wet Central heating?
Think it depends on budget. We've just part exchanged our 2009 swift challenger 580 with end island bed with blown air heating and have really loved her. we have just bought William, a Swift Conqueror 645 twin axle transverse island bed, with Alde wet central heating, we have yet to use him.
The blown air heating was excellent, never been cold, even had it on last week when we were in North Devon, it was quite cold in the morning and evening.
Just get the best van you can for the money you want to spend.
good luck
We have air blown heating, we considered the Challenger SE, then decided the additional outlay was not worth it and settled for the Sport. The difference in the price means more money in my pocket that the wife can make bookings for camp sites with.
i would settle for whatever the van came with if i liked it.But i would be concerned a bit with wet heating. Is it just something else to leak and ruin the floor etc.

We've always had blown air heating and never been cold even the odd winter at sub zero.
They tell me wet heating adds weight to the van so thats something to consider.
Another vote for Swift. Have a Challenger Sport bought last year, took it out in November and Feb just to see how warm it was, and despite very bad weather it remained toasty inside - including the bathroom.
Our dog loves it too - curls up beside one of the hot air outlets.
I hear lots about wet heating but don't really get why since blown air works well and saves weight.
------------- Camping Gear expands so as to fill the space available for its transportation.
Our last form of heating was turning on the grill......so any form of heating was a bonus.
having had blown air in the house, which was ok when blowing but then stopped when reached correct temp, I was pleased our van of choice had Alde heating. The bacground heat continues when the temp is reached. Best bit of all is warming the towels on the bathroom radiator, great in winter!

Just traded in our swift charisma fixed bed for a challenger sport 584. Had 2 weeks in a very cold wet Scotland and we just loved the van, spacious, warm, comfortable and towed so much better than the charisma. The bed was lovely too, we just left the top bit of mattress in place as it means faffing about with the bed each night otherwise, there is still room to get to the bathroom. Cost about 19k although you may get a late season bargain from somewhere. J x
i suppose its just opinions again then.I like blown air but not experienced the wet sort yet.not sure if i will.but if i like the van and it comes with that i will try it.

We wanted an island bed, looked at alot of makes then setteled on a Sterling Eccles as the finish was better than most, we ended up with a 584 sport SR and cant fault it, it has hot air heating too.
If a wet central heating system goes wrong it is VERY costly and irritating to fix, as some friends have just found out. Happened 2 months after warranty ran out on their van! Before this, we were wanting a wch as we have an infant but everyone including dealers put us off of it and said blown air is better!
