Hi
I have receiently bought a VW cc and it has a RNS510 head unit in it but it keeps taking me down B roads which are barely suitable for a car let alone when I have the caravan behind me I have tried changing all the settings but no change, on this unit there is a sd slot in the front, so my question is if I load some caravan towing software on to a sd card and put it in the slot will it read the caravan towing software off of that rather than what's already installed on to the head unit?
Most free standing sat navs allow you a degree of user input. Have you the facility to review the route on h built in one? If you have you can check the route against a map and input suitable via's which should keep you to where you want to go. As far as using other caravan towing software will the device accept it? There aren't that many base mapping software so it might b helpful to know the one yours is based on.

i just bought a 7 inch chinese brand one off ebay for less than forty quid.. it has settings for bikes.. lorries.. cars.. on foot.. you name it it has them..
my older one did have a nasty habit if taking me on short cuts through peoples back gardens and the maps are a few years old.. :)
I have got and RNS510 and don't have any trouble with it taking us down narrow roads. You can't alter the settings. If it does decide to take us down a narrow road I just ignore it. Doesn't happen very often. You can't load any pois. doesn't recognise them.
