Is there anyone out there that can tell me where I might be able to buy an old airstream caravan or anything similar. I'm looking for the retro look and ideally want something that's road worthy. I'm totally new to the caravaning scene so any tips would be really appreciated.

Before you criticise a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way when you do criticise him you'll be a mile away and have his shoes
do you have an 8l Chevy ready to tow it? Good luck, I am envious!!! There are only two vans that I would buy and they are Eribas and Airstreams. Nothing else floats my boat.
I guess you will pay some £15-20k for something from the '40ies onwards.
We are in the early stages of thinking of going to America to buy an Airstream motorhome and do some travelling for a year or so. Very early days yet though!
Hi as far as i can remember i think that airstreams a still not leagal to tow on uk roads. A mate of mine is also looking for a airstream, i asked at the NEC this year and drew a blank although there was one very small one at the show (althought not for sale) The links above should help. Happy Hunting....

If any member is interested in purchasing a true original vintage Airstream and not just an empty shell or a refurbished copy, please telephone us in Ohio, U.S.A. at (937) 671-4557. We just sold a 1950 Airstream California Cruiser, one of only 53 made, which came from the original family. We currently have for sale an original one owner 1959 Airstream Overlander, which was the California Cruiser from 1958 onwards. Why pay high dealer or reseller prices when you can buy directly from a collector? We are members of Airstream Forums and Tin Can Tourists. We actively camp and participate in Rallies here in the United States

Collectors and active campers in the U.S.A. We own 1948 Spartanette & 1940's Kit, 1969 Barth 16', 1978 Silver Streak & 1972 Revcon motorhomes.
You might look at the Thor / Dutchman Tab caravans - they are made my Tabbert in Germany. They have the retro look and come in aluminum. I looked at the Airstreams here in the States but the price was unreal.
I have the 1950 Cruiser for sale that is on the adverts page, and I have a collection of 14 right now. I have sold 3 in UK and have more in Europe. I actively camp all over Europe and Scandinavia, and former USSR. I grew up camping in Airstreams with my family and know the ins and outs. Whether you have a need for one that I offer or not, I'm always glad to assist in preventing a bad purchase- my clients will tell you that I am very straight and honest.
I'm very experienced at trans Atlantic shipping for these- they characteristically don't fit in containers and require special RORO ships.
