Hello ,we camp in a tent a lot at the mo but I recently I like the Idea of buying a tourer caravan ,but have it as a seasonal pitch somewhere so we could go for weekends without all the hard work of so much gear and putting a tent up ..If anyone does this please could they share any tips with me ,to how much sites can cost ? Can you go anytime ? Also some older caravans are very cheap is this risky ? My budget would only be about £3,000 also does a caravan have to be a certain age before campsite will take them ? Sorry for all questions be great if anyone can answer some question for me x
Costs vary wildly depending on the area, facilities etc. Some sites provide winter storage while others expect you to find your own. Some sites charge extra for electricity.
We pay £1600 at Bala + £150 for winter storage. Includes leccie. That is somewhere in the middle of costs.

my son went the other way.. bought an older large-ish van to permanently site.. decided it cost too much and just used storage..
now they have decided its too much hassle getting the van out of storage and towing it for shorter trips and they have just bought a large tent.. he he
they are off this weekend for a first try.. i will get the report on monday.. :)
they think the tent will give them more go anywhere anywhen flexibility..
Some sites let you park your van on the same spot all year. You just have to remember to take the awning down before the winter sets in.
P.S. - We don't find it any hassle pulling the van to different sites - in fact we quite like it. Once you get into it - you each have your own job and we are usually sat down having a brew within 30 minutes (If we are using the porch awning)
