What Microwave would you recommend for the Caravan? I am going to install one into the van as I have the space for it. What Amp is the best to get? Thanks
The power of a m/wave is rated in Watts, the wattage quoted is the power output, you need to check the power input in Watts on the specification plate on the M/wave.
You would need to be on a site that supplies at least 6 Amps for an 800W output M/wave to be certain it will work.

You can get plenty of 700/800W microwaves for <£50 any would do and there is no difference whatsoever between microwaves made for caravans and those for domestic use, except for the power rating. The magnetrons are protected in exactly the same way.

Just a few things to think about. If you are putting it in a cupboard -
1) Will it hold the weight ?
2) Will it stay where it is when travelling ?
3) Is it well vented in the cupboard ?
Or - if you are just putting it on a work surface - put it on the floor when travelling.
We had a Daewoo QT, which is a small microwave. Worked well for us for a couple of years in a cupboard that we added a large vent to. However it stopped working (came on but didnt heat he food), so not sure if it was just a fault or didnt like being rattled around in the cupboard.
In our last van we did not have an inbuilt microwave, we had a Tesco cheep model, which still works today. We used to put it under the seats sat on foam and bubble wrap around the back and sides, never had a problem.
