I have an abbey alliance 2005, but am having problems with my caravan battery. It's a new battery but when I leave the rocker switch in the off position when it's not in use the battery goes flat. Please can someone let me know which position I am supposed to leave the rocker switch and the battery charger switch when it is not being used. Thanks
If the rocker switch is in the 'OFF' position (neutral) then the battery gauge will go to zero because that's exactly what you are doing, isolating the power from the leisure battery. When you switch to 'VAN', the reading on the gauge will indicate the amount of charge in the battery and when you switch to 'CAR' the gauge will show a higher reading which is the charge being delivered from the towcar.
The advice is to switch the rocker switch to the 'OFF' position when connecting or disconnecting the battery terminals and the same when connecting or disconnecting the plug to the towcar to avoid creating a spark.

It's going flat over a really short space of time. The battery charges fine and is usually fully charged when left, but then goes flat in a few days. I have been leaving it in the neutral position when parked up.
Probably something is s switched on to drain it. Possibly an alarm? The easiest way to be sure of completely isolating it is to remove the positive connector from the battery, if the battery still goes right down in a short time there is something wrong with it.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
If you use a TV you will have a booster otherwise known as a signal amplifier. It will be somewhere near the caravan roof aerial so could be located hidden in one of the overhead cupboards. The booster will look identical to that shown in the link and if you look underneath it has a 'HIGH/LOW' switch and an 'ON/OFF' switch. If the booster is switched on then the small red light on the front will be illuminated providing that the battery isn't flat of course.
But with the switch in the off position the aerial booster should be isolated anyway.
