Hi we have a seasonal pitch and pay for electric. The first month was fine. 2nd month have used 3 time as much only thing we did that was different was use and charge eelectric drills to put awning floor in . Run a fan and leave cooler box on in the awning . Someone said that cooler boxes run away with electric and we would be better odff with a table top fridge in the awning. Our cooler box was from aldi and doess keep things really cool . We noticed that it had water in the bottim last week as if it had defrost itself . Its a good few years old so if we are replacing it would like to know you guys experience of them . Do they guzzle electric or not .we have nothing to compare it with as its our first one Thanks
No idea on electric. The water inside is perfectly normal it is just condensation forming and there is nowhere for it to drain unlike a compressor fridge.

Thanks naturalist do they use lots of electric not sure if our other one is onthe blink or not but that sounds a really goof biy what make of coolet are they . Will take a look next time we r at the caravan
the Aldi cooler box are great for keeping things cool but do use a lot of electric & are not for use all the time if u want on all the time best with a little fridge cheaper to buy & run plus have a freezer part
Ours is like frank said an aldi one sounds like it uses lot of electric so if thats the case it would pay us to get a small fridge . It would save money in the long run
We have the Aldi cooler box, I haven't noticed it using lots of electricity and I usually notice when our OWL meter goes up massively.
At the moment the meter is out of battery (typical) but I'm off shopping later so will replace it. If you can hang on until tomorrow I will plug ours in and tell you exactly how much more electricity it uses.
Thanks madz . Ours is about 4 or 5 years old its a blue color one and its brilliant but maybe we need an owl meter like you so can test whats usingvthe leccy . We left van fridge on low ancthe dial on leccy went up by 18 Units in 2 weeks we weren't there
This dial has jut 4 figures at the endcits mnot like normal leccy meter it just has 1998 not like the one at home . Not sure what a unit would actually be on this
That's interesting as you say its impossible to tell how much electric is being used if the meter has different fittings. Obviously you are also caught with how much the site are charging for units.
You could do with testing your site meter with something that you know exactly how much electricity is being used then plugging it in for a comparison on site.
