We have just come home after staying on one of CCC's certified sites. As usual, very nice. My one complaint, which goes to a lot of sites, large and small, is the disposal of grey water. Dragging a large container over grass, gravel etc. is bad enough when you are not in the first flush of youth. When you get to the disposal point, you find it is at least one course of bricks higher than the ground. Lifting 30 - 40 litres of water is no joke. Why can't the drain be at ground level, or at least have a ramp up to it? I'm now 70 and things are not as easy to do. My age group is a very big proportion of caravanners and we need to be catered for with such a simple thing as emptying waste water.
Yes i am also in seventies and for 40 year used an Aquaroll for waste.I now use a waste water hog and if there is a surround up to about 6 inches high it will tip over this OK with no lifting.
Should add nowadays only let my toilet get half full because of lifting to empty.
I've encountered this in the past, not well thought out at all, even half full it's tricky. Like birdman101 I empty my toilet frequently too as these are often at waist height which is even more challenging.
We've been on a site recently, a CS that had an old toilet outside the barn for both grey waste and toilet, I'm still fit and healthy'ish but found lifting more than 30 litres of waste water to that height ridiculous.
Other sites we have been on, told us, when asked about waste water disposal, just tip it in the hedge back it's only water.
You lot must be going to the wrong sites.Ive never came across that problem here in Scotland as all the sites i have visited had a drain on ground level.Just a wee question. How do the motor homes empty their waste ? Sites ive been on here in Scotland the motor homes drive over a drain and empty their waste that way.
I do feel sorry though for the person or persons who have to lift their waste barrels that high as it must be awkward
I thought at Witches Craig you had to lift the Wastemaster up to empty it at the fresh water tap, unless you take it to the motorhome empty point.

------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

but if you emptied it every day there wouldn't be so much weight to lift, surely you don't go thr/produce 40 ltrs a day?
There are some people (mentioning no names) who can use that much to rinse a lettuce.
Strangely it always seems to be the one who doesn't fetch & carry water.
Re: Wastemaster and drain which is too high.
The easy way to deal with this is to remove the cap at the sharp end of the Wastemaster - nearest to the handle.
Tip that end of the Wastemaster over the surrounding drain wall.
With some care you can balance the Wastemaster on the drain's rim as you tip the contents out. It is a little more fiddly, but it saves most of the heavy lifting.
Let us know if this works for you.
