Hello, I did a search but didn't really see anything the was the same issue or non issue we are having.
We went away a few weeks ago and 1 day in, our fridge stopped working. We tried it on gas and it didn't seem to get cold either. We researched and thought we could order parts in time as we were there for another 2 weeks. However, we kept putting it off and just used our large cool box for food.
So today, we finally got over to the van to have a look at it. It's stored in family's garden so it's hooked up to electric but we leave the fridge door open to air it out once closed up. Anyway, my husband went to work on the fridge and noticed it felt warm on the backside. About the same time, I stuck my hand in the freezer (no freezer door) and it was ice cold! So we shut it off and put the heat on and then after a while, turned the heat off and put the fridge back on to check temp. Within an hour, it went from 20 degrees to 10 degrees.
We then did the same on gas but didn't leave it as long. So it went from 17 to just over the 10 degree mark.
At our camp, we thought we were quite level but not perfectly.
I'm asking for advice so that we do the right thing....
Do you think this happened because we weren't perfectly level at the site or do you think we should be checking for anything else before using it again?
Sorry so long, I want to get the full picture out there. Thanks so much for the help x

My fridge has a tolerance ag about 5 degrees, so it needs to be fairly level.
We leave all cupboards and the fridge wide open when in storage, prevents stagnant smells.

Mine did the same when on a site last year, but has worked properly since. It did seem to be something to do with the levelling of the van, as it worked perfectly back on the drive at home!

Absorption fridges, as fitted in caravans, do need to be level to work properly. I don't know if there is a specified limit of tilt, but we use a 'T' spirit level which we places just inside the caravan door whilst we level up, and that seems to always be sufficient so as not to have a problem.

Thanks for the responses. The working was short lived. Had a stop in the van today and it's sitting at 25 degrees. Seems like it's intermittent. It worked fine for us last year.
My husband flipped another switch on the van to see if that does anything. Will have a look in a few days and take it from there. Just seems odd to not work then it worked fine to not working the next day.
Thanks again x

Apparently - the level of the fridge is important. However they will still work when on the move.

AVON EAGLE is right as the level tolerance for a three way fridge is about 2 to 3 degrees so it needs setting up accurately with a spirit level both front to back and side to side.
Here is the link below that AVON EAGLE provided.
