The obvious scammers are the least of the worries,just emails to delete, far worse are the time wasters, no showers and dreamers taking up your actual time. Its why dealers offer such low trade in prices, you are paying them to take away the aggro of private selling.

The part exchange price principle hasn't altered over the years and was the same before the internet. The dealer makes a percentage profit on the px whilst comparing what he is going to make on the new van. He will offer you more, or less, when he sees the van but will still have a minimum margin he hopes to make.
The trade in prices are always abysmal, the forecourt price is always a big markup on that, owners sell privately because they hope to make more money, they have to work for that extra money, often harder than they ever realised. However you view it, when you trade in you are paying for a service.
