Evening we have recently purchased an Avondale 5 birth caravan and was thinking of removing the toilet to put in bunk beds on the back wall
. Would this be an easy job to do, I quite handy with wood work so this doesn't faze me, and would this not as I've read somewhere make the back end to heavy for towing. Am doing this to make a bit more room and to put in a triple bunk bed for my three kids

I would never remove the toilet, what if you need it? Unless you're ok with a bucket or something.

You would need to be careful - solid wood would unbalance the 'van and eat greatly into your weight allowance.

You'll notice that caravan interiors are constructed very much with lightness in mind, so weight vs strength very much an issue.

So your looking at modding a 5 birth into a 7 birth?

Theoretically it can be done, but you would have to work out the weight of the people using the beds and not "over engineer" them.

The last thing you want is to use thick heavy wood and make the beds suitable for adults if only children will be using them.

Wood is heavy, and that extra weight could unbalance your van.

Watch the weight at the rear of the van.
maybe you could pick up bunk beds from a caravan that is being broken for spares.

The toilet wall is a braceing structure for what is basisaly a wobbly box. it's removal could affect the vans integeraty and cause seams to leak.

Ty you all for your reply's, the beds are for my three kids, was planning on putting one bed on the floor the next one at window sill height and the other at shelf high. Hoping to make the bottom two fold down so to still have a sofa at the rear, and the top one to fold away somehow. If I could find one that was being scrapped then yes I coulud use the beds to form the top,bunk.

I can see the benifets of having 3 fixed bunks for your kids. But the down side is if you may strugle to sell the caravan in the future
