Hi reassurance needed .on Sunday we will be taking only our second trip with our tourer first was manchester to anglesey only 2 hours with no stops and I was so stressed I felt like I'd personally pulled the van there I ached that much coming back I was much more relaxed and quite enjoyed the trip .however this time we are off to Devon ,Woolacombe I know the route it's pretty straight forward but my other half as pointed out we haven't used services with a caravan in tow and my reversing skills are ,well none existent .we normally use strentham for breakfast then taunton for a toilet break . I am now losing sleep worrying about having to perform fancy reversing tricks to access the bays I've also heard that strentham isnt that straight forward when returning to the m5 .any tips, advice will be more than welcome thanks in advance
It's normally very straight forward and if you use the bays for trucks and caravans then you don't usually need to do any reversing. If they are long bays just park at the end and you should then be able to drive straight out. You should be able to use Google maps to have a look at the services before you go.
Just remember - DO NOT leave your caravan un-attended when you go for a break. Make sure someone stays with it.

Thanks clever will get straight on google won't be leaving the caravan unattended already been told the dog and I will staying with the van while OH and son go for goodies so it's crossed legs till they get back
Agree with Clever. Google maps satellite view is good. Have a back up plan too, many a time I have pulled into a services to find no spare caravan spaces. Lol where the next one is so if you need to drive in and back out you are relaxed in knowing where the next stop is and where to park when you get there.
Good place to practice reversing skills is in an industrial estate at night when it is quiet. Try reversing round corners, 3 point turns, and reversing into parking spaces.
I used to spend about half an hour in the one near me every time I picked up the caravan just practicing.
We have just returned from Woolacombe last Thursday. If you avoid the Barnstaple route you come down towards Coombe Martin you take a left fork. Sorry but i cant remember the road name. This road was closed and the diversion was down to Coombe Martin and up through some windy narrow roads. If you go through Barnstaple you will miss this.
Hope this helps.

You may have heard that because there isn't a direct link to the main M5(S) carriageway as might be expected - the exit lane from the services takes you to a roundabout carrying traffic from the M50. Not a problem, though, just stay in left lane leaving services, give way if needed at the roundabout and take first (ie straight ahead) exit, which then becomes a conventional access slip road to the M5.
Between J21 and J22 M5 is the one I use, follow the road to get petrol (is all signed) and you will have a pull in on left or reverse park on right if you fancy it.
Strensham is easy for caravans as is Taunton. You will have no problems there. The only services on the route where reversing the caravan is necessary when parking is at Hilton Park just North of Birmingham on the way south, no such problems going North.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
We have had a situation where there's no suitable parking spaces available. My advice would be to look at stopping at the services before you need to or be in a situation to go to the one after if necessary.

The work will wait while you show the child the rainbow, but the rainbow won't wait while you finish the work.
I don't worry about services they way I look at it is is an artic lorry can get in and out then so can I. Also don't forget you are pulling your own toilet behind you if your every on a dual carriageway with laybys to pull into.
Prefer to use services that are between motorway junctions, that way you're straight on the motorway when you leave without possibly having to wait ages for a gap to join the roundabout
