And bought our first van! After thinking about it for a long time, we've plumped for a Sterling Europa 570. 6 berth with fixed end bunks, 2011. We pick it up in a few weeks.
Now to sort the insurance, storage, tow bar, bits of kit we'll need, second mortgage to pay for all the weekends away we'll want....
Congratulations on your new purchase, sounds like an excellent choice and bet you can't wait to get out in it.
A good place to glean info is right here on this and other forums, however there is nothing quite like doing it yourself, gaining experience and confidence.
Only tips I would suggest, don't go too far to begin with and take your time. Try a check list.

Yes, very excited! Will be staying at a site a few miles from where we pick it up so we can test it all out for the weekend. We've got an Audi estate to tow it with.
We are new to it and found a few days seriously finding our way around the caravan, stripping everything out and stowing it again, into all the lockers, setting up and taking down in the garden and using a checklist is all good stuff means your more confident when you go on your first adventure.
A Good toolkit and a multi meter is not a bad idea too as something seems to need fettling just about every trip.
We are just starting to finalise plans for two weeks plus in Scotland starting very early September, a few days only at each place so covering more tow miles.
Going to leave the awning at home I think as with just two of us it hardly warrants it for less than three or four nights I reckon.
Congratulations on your purchase, once you have everything sorted you'll enjoy using a caravan. We have a smaller Kampa 200 porch awning that we take with us on short trips, it gives us extra storage and somewhere to remove shoes and coats in those moments when the British weather doesn't play nice.
Take your time with everything and you'll be fine, enjoy your purchase.
