KAMPA CARAVAN COVER MELTS IN THE HEAT!!!!

I purchased a Kampar cover for my van from a local camping shop in Medway, we put it on in the winter last year and it worked a treat keeping my van clean. we used the van couple of times this year before heat wave came and put the cover back on after use but we did not return to van at our storage site till this week September 2015 to find that our caravan was the only one to still have the cover on, now I know why people had removed there's as when I removed it the other day the top of the cover had melted and as soon as it was removed from the roof of the van it ripped like a paper bag. the sides where still thick and tough but the top was as thin as paper and no use to man or beast. so I will be in future removing it in the warmer weather....

We bought one last year - after moving from storage to site we removed the cover to find large black marks on the van which were difficult to clean off. Also one strap had ripped off - so we took it back to Penrith caravans and got a full refund. Will never buy another.

Totally agree..... you are better off giving it a good polish then when it needs it give it a wash ... probably quicker than messing on with a cover anyway.

Lots of people in our storage site use winter covers, lots of people have ripped winter covers when they return in the spring. Caravans are designed to be outside, dealers don't cover theirs, unless we were near treesI would never cover the van.

We had a Towsure cover for our old 1990 van and found it great. The van was beautifully clean and dry when we uncovered it. We did regularly check on the van exterior under the cover and keep an eye on the interior. We used the cover for 4 years without issue, on the 5th year we missed putting it on and got damp in the back corner.

We haven't yet purchased a cover for our new van and are undecided what to do purely because we keep seeing reports that the paint layer isn't as thick on new vans and people have experienced rubbing.

We will probably end up purchasing another Towsure cover and removing it to check regularly.

Caravan & Motorhome owners please note:

Explorer Caravan Covers - Don't buy!!!

My Explorer Deluxe cover lasted 8 months!!

They offer a 3 yr warranty but don't honour it.

The reviews on their website are carefully checked by them before they are published to weed out any bad reviews.

Impressive websites give a false impression of a quality product and service

I had a towsure cover a few years back. The straps fell to pieces within a year. But as we only found out as we removed it to go away it was over the 12 month warranty
when we reported it on our return.

The rest only lasted a year or so after when it crumbled away. Totally unsuitable for its purpose.

The material doesn't like sunlight, maybe they need a cover for their cover?

I purchased a deluxe cover from explorer covers at the 2016 caravan show Oct.i gave the salesperson my caravan details he assured me the one I was purchasing was the correct size. It arrivedein dec. because of the weather I was unable to put it on straight away.i put it on Xmas eve. It was too small. Explore covers won't change it because I had it 14 days and not told them.they won't change it. Very poor service.

i have a silver Maypole cover brought of Fleabay for about £70.

it has lasted 3 winters now.

i ripped the end off the zip last winter, but the zip still works with a loop of wire through it

I also tore it on the sharp end of the awning rail on my caravan.

I also ripped one of the straps of it.

However it has not decomposed in the UV or rotted yet.

its supposed to be breathable, this means it lets water in but not out. it also increases all the damp readings within weeks of fitting it and has done so on 2 caravans i have used it with.

it hasnt fallen apart yet but i dont think any cover is a good idea in our damp climate.

We got one from Towsure, last year.
Really use it as a dust cover for indoor storage in France.
Certainly keeps the van spotless and no ill effects ... but then, no wind to test any rubbing potential.

EXPLORER CARAVAN COVERS..........AVOID!!!!!

It appears I read some comments too late. Bought an Explorer Ultimate cover for my van last year. It has ripped already. Tried to contact them as still under warranty.....phone number constantly out of order, says to email them.....they never respond to emails...... Tried to message them on their website......they don't respond to messages.......tried to place a review on their website.....it never appeared.

Now looking for a replacement. Any suggestions, where customer service actually exists?
