Does anyone else think that searching for second hand caravan is more a nightmare than fun?
We have been looking for a while for our next caravan after selling ours and managing with a trailer tent this summer.
Due to circumstances we are looking for smaller cheaper van and what a headache.
Most sellers dont seem to know anything about the van their selling.
Damp - cant possibly be damp if water not flooding in and causing a puddle.
4 births - advertised as 5 berths cos bed is so big.
2 births - advertised as 4 berths cos can sleep in awning.
Laminate flooring and painted walls omg.
Has anyone else encountered these problems or am I just fussy !
When I sold a caravan some time ago, I described it accurately, I also checked the tyre pressures & the wheelnuts. When the buyer arrived I fixed his numbeplate on & hitched up the caravan for him. Maybe you will find a seller like me.

Dont forget those sellers that list the unladen weight instead of the gross weight and will tell you that of course your 1300cc KA will tow the twinaxle caravan they have for sale.
Or the ones selling for a friend so dont come back to me and complain about it.
Not all sellers are like that, but sadly too many are.
Many years ago we went against all our normal principles and bought a campervan privately. Nothing but trouble from day one, we sold it on as soon as possible (to a dealer I should add, we didn't dupe an unsuspecting member of the public!)
Ever since then our rule Which.Will.Not.Be.Broken is that we buy from a dealer, after checking out the dealer as best we can.
Might end up paying a bit more but it's worth it to avoid the hassle.
Well.......not nightmarish but some we looked at were a bad dream!!
As above, 'vans still dirty from previous trip, minging cookers, dirty washing, unbelievable really. I don't understand people trying to sell a 'van and they don't bother making it look its best.
Anyway, we've just bought an absolutely immaculate Swift Challenger, in a private buy, and we're delighted with it. Worth the wait and hunting around.
------------- I came into this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left.
We're in same position (not sold ours yet) but want a smaller one as ours is 26ft long and too much for just 3
Amazing how many sellers don't know the miro, nose weight or mtplm and get annoyed when asked. 'Oh we tow with this and its fine!!'
And don't get me started on damp
just a bit damp is still damp
damp and doesn't cause a problem...it will
