I have a 1998 compass lynx 340/2, the front leg nuts will not tighten up as the nut just turns, how do you get in to replace the bolts please.
Do you mean the nuts that hold the steady to the wooden floor under the caravan? Is it that the nut and bolt turn together?
The legs are held on with coach bolts thats why their spinning, one end has not got a hex on the bolt.
Lift the carpet to gain access in the corner.
If you can with a small hack saw,cut the nut near to the bolt itself then hit the nut at one end with a hammer and chisel this should take off the nut.
When fitting new bolts fit a big washer on it, to spread the load of tightening it.
If the bolt thread that you can see from under the van is long enough, add two more nuts and tighten them to each other forming a lock nut. If you then hold this locknut it will stop the bolt from turning and you will probably be able to tighten the original nut.
If this method is no good then you will have to do as Jeff Juke suggests above.
These are the bolts they use and if you are lucky enough to get them out replace them with bolts with heads. if its the lifting bolt as in Grampian91 post??? thats another story
try having a friendly assistant put some weight on the bolt head inside the van. i.e lift the cushions out of the bed base and stand on the top of the bolt. just tap the floor from underneath. worked on the girlfriend's bailey
