The best mattresses are Pocket sprung. Any bed shop will sell them - you can buy light-weight ones.

Also - it could be the slats under the bed are bent or broken.

We have a fixed bed with a shaped mattress , don't think you would get one of those in a bed shop on the high street, we have checked the slats and they are fine it just seems to be the mattress. I would prefer a pocket sprung not a foam mattress.

Google Caravan shaped mattresses, there are a few companies that make them to measure, not cheap, but they are available. You could also give Tockfield a call, based just outside Alfreton in Derbyshire, and featured in most major Caravanning mags ads sections, including the CC, the specialise in caravan interior refurbs, and maybe able to help.

I bought a memory foam mattress from Dunnelm, removed the cover and cut the foam mattress to the shape of the bed. repleced the cover. Perfect.
Now.. what can I do with nearly new double bed mattress with the corner missing?

Dont go for pocket sprung they are to heavy for a fixed bed we made the expensive mistake of buying one and it was like the tail wagging the dog when towing

Tockfield make a good mattress and can make it whilst you wait, they also have a site you can stay on and 3 beds you can try to see what firmness you would like

There are lightweight ones - I know - I bought one for a previous caravan.

If your bed is across the back of the caravan - a rectangular one may fit.

northwestcaravanbedding2012 on eBay. Our Swift Fairway 540 fixed bed mattress developed hollows similar to yours. I replaced it with a pocket sprung made to measure from the above seller on ebay. I looked up their address on Google earth and it was same factory unit as a much advertised company called Jonic who make made to measure mattresses for caravans, also the person with whom I comunicated was called Jon, now this may be a coincidence but northwest charged £269.99 and Jonic were about double that. The new mattress is a vast improvement on the Swift original and was only a couple of kilos heavier ( I weighed them) so will not affect your handling. A great nights sleep is now guaranteed.

I added 1" x 1" tubular steal to support the middle of the slats under our island bed and a 2" memory foam topper, good as new now.

Introduce Homylink mattress, is a good hybrid mattress, memory cotton and built-in spring combination, can effectively support your body spine.

https://www.homylink.co.uk

The Sleep Council recommends you change your mattress every seven years (although really good ones can last eight to ten years – in some cases even more). They warn that quite often a mattress has worn out before you realise. Indeed, the Sleep Council points out that after seven years, your mattress will have had over 20,000 hours of wear and tear, to go with the half-pint of fluid lost each night and pound of dead skin cells shed each year.

A decent memory foam mattress may actually weigh the same or more than a pocket sprung mattress. Adding a topper to a mattress that has sunk in the middle will not help at all as the topper will follow the contour of the mattress.

Totally agree on Tockfield, used them recently to sort out my seating, the difference is night and day.
