Well we are still searching for a caravan. Dont really want to buy one privately without testing for damp. We have a meter but it is the pronged type, but dont like to use it on others vans incase it leaves holes and cause offence
We were even told we were not allowed to use it on a dealers van and must trust her judgement as damp can be seen if there! Worse still apparently they do not believe in damp testing.
Can anyone recommend a non invasive meter we could buy at an affordable price (ie up to £50) that we could use without upsetting anybody or causing holes.
regards
not really, the damp meters that operate without prongs are very expensive.hundreds of pounds. Most mobile caravan service engineers use prong type.but most damp appears near windows etc so you put the prongs just under the rubber. That dealer is talking crap.you cannot always see or smell damp.Avoid them, seems they may be scared you will rumble them
------------- i dont sell cheap tat.I sell tat cheap

If sellers will not allow a damp meter to be used then do not buy, simple as that. Indicate on the phone to them that you wish to use a damp meter. If they say no then you have saved yourself a trip to see a dud caravan.
It doesn't get great reviers on amazon but I'm happy with it. As with all damp meters it throws up different readings with different weather but I calibrate it against a bed slat for comparison. Great investment if you are getting into caravanning.
