some weeks ago I was listening to a local radio phone in, the topic was seagulls on roofs. A local builder in south Devon phoned in to say that he had worked on a roof, and noticed that there was one roof on which there were no seagulls, on closer inspection he saw what he thought was a snake on the roof, it was in fact a rubber snake.
This apparently kept the gulls away.
He stated that whenever he does roof work he leaves a rubber snake behind!
I realise it's the poo that is the problem, but maybe a snake on the roof of the van might have deterrent effect..........
A few plastic cable ties pointing upwards on the aerial should do it or a plastic owl fixed somewhere near.
The decals for one side of our Conqueror were £345+vat

Thanks everyone. The pigeons are still around but down to about ten. I'm beginning to feel sorry for them, they sit on the aerial waiting for food.......they must be hungry poor things. Hopefully they will get fed up of waiting and move on.

Please, please do not feel sorry for them. They will be fine, they do not need us to survive.
In my experience, the pigeons will find an alternative food source and still return to their favoured place (aerial). There are anti-roosting spikes available that do not harm the birds, it simply prevents them from sitting on areas where they are fitted. I know the aerial is high but someone installed it so it must be accessible. There are polycarbonate spikes available and by using plastic cable ties should have no effect on the aerial/reception. This is just an option that may be worth discussing with your neighbour.
Well! Here they are! I feel so sorry for them. They are wet through, looking miserable and waiting for food. Twenty three in all. I love all creatures. I sometimes wish I didn't.
I also feel sorry for you and would certainly be doing something about it, ie Environmental Health if your neighbour is feeding them. But I do not understand why you feel sorry for them, I am sorry but they are a wild animal quite capable of fending for themselves, they do not need us to feed them. We do more harm than good........Don't even get me started on people who feed Foxes! Grrrrrrrrrr irresponsible, ill informed fools.
