I have looked at some of the stock at the above and they have some reasonable looking starter caravans for under £3,000 which is what I am looking for.
Has anyone used these before and can comment on how good they are?
Alternatively if anybody knows of any other dealers that specialize in this sort of budget that would be great.
Obviously I can get a better price buying private but just concerned, at this budget, of getting a lemon.
If you want a caravan in that price range then private sale off ebay etc is the way to go. Check it very carefully before buying obviously. Dealers of cheap caravans will buy their stock off ebay & put their markup on. They will claim it has been serviced & so on but really they will hardly check them, any guarantee they give will be pretty worthless so you might as well save your money, buy privately & budget for service & probably new tyres before you use it.

That seems like good advice Billy.
Was just hoping to go to a dealer for peace of mind but chances are I would get better peace of mind buying off an elderly couple that have looked after a van well than off a dealer.
If you buy from a private seller you could ask a local mobile caravan service engineer to check it over for you before you decide to buy. Have a look for one in your area and ring for a price. http://www.mobilecaravanengineers.co.uk/find-an-engineer/
I bought my caravan from a local dealer with this business model. Eg buy cheap of eBay repair then sell with a limited warranty. Within 3 months the wall boards were damp and soft. At the time I didn't know this was what he did but since he is based on the farm I keep my caravan on I have seen his operation. I have just had my van repaired again under warranty by the engineer also based on the same storage facility in an industrial unit. Talking to this engineer, who does the fixing up this is exactly what the guy does. Buys wrecks fixes and sells them. In my case he had just put a dehumidifier in my van and dried it out. I didn't pay that much below the going rate on auto trader from a regular dealer. The repair guy is ex bailey and said that the GRP ends on the series 5 baileys and the cracking and leaks, nearly broke the company with warranty work.
However if you are only paying £2k for a caravan you won't be too upset if it needs repairing but if you payed £6k.......
for that money I would look private, we got ours from an add of this web site, yes we travelled from co durham to around Sheffield for it but it was a bargain everything included, two awnings loads of spares fully serviced ect, it was the third one we looked at don't be afraid to say no thanks if you have a look and its not right just be sensible when looking

Hi hath,
How do I view vans for sale on here? I am intrigued??
I purchased a caravan from there about a year ago.it was actually about 400 quid cheaper then i could find the same model private. when i got it home i noticed that the shower tray had a small crack in it and the fire didnt get hot on electric .i replaced the shower tray for about 60 quid and dont bother with the fire.No point in taking it back as i live in essex They did change the hitch from a standard to a alko one albeit
second hand at no extra cost.every thing else with the vans fine and my fault for 20 years of caravans not checking thoroughly.
At least buying private there's a chance the caravan is ok. Buy from a dealer who buys wrecks cheap and "fixes them" they definitely have problems. I just went to retrieve my step and get my keys and have a chat to the caravan engineer and he was repairing a S5 550/6 ranger that in his mind was beyond repair since the wood was rotten. It had just been sold by the dealer I bought mine off. He was totally replacing the wall boards on the right hand side. The caravan smelt of damp. The ceiling boards were also rotten. I hope whoever bought it walked away with a refund.
Beware any seller even the old dears that claim to have owned it for many years, it maybe a topup to their pension or another family member maybe buying them and tarting them up and getting the oldies to flog them.
I remember one of the old cop shows on TV, they stopped a stolen car to find the driver had bought the car off the little old lady. Turned out it was a mobility car and not hers to sell.
