Well we are still caravan hunting. We sold our Bailey 620/6 earlier in the year and looking to downsize. We managed with a trailer tent for this summer but are now ready to buy our next caravan.
We are fancying an l shape as roomier for our needs. We have narrowed our search down to a Sterling L shape or an Abbey. Looking at 4 berth end bathrooms around 2006/7.
has any one experience in abbeys/ swifts. which is best for build quality in older van. We know damp can be pot luck and will test but is one make likely to be better quality regarding fixtures and cushions etc.
any advice greatfully received.
regards
arent sterling and abbey both swift group caravans with the same layouts, just different 'Trim levels'?
for me the sterlings seem to be lighter than the abbey.
I too am looking to upgrade to a twin axle and am considering a sterling Europa 595 or Abbey Vogue 600
so if you have a range rover you might choose the higher spec abbey over the lighter sterling or if you have a mondeo you may have no choice but to select the sterling?
i may be wrong of course.
i have a question for the OP. did you have any trouble selling your Ranger?

hi Baileyjake
We sold our Ranger at the end of April, with a view to downsize. Took us a couple of weeks of advertising but sold as soon as we put it on classified on ebay.
Initially looking at different layouts going back to a single axle, vans front lounges seem small which is why we are edging towards an l shape.
looking for best spec on single axle.
regards
Baileyjake your right they used to be connected to Swift but Swift dropped them around 2007 hence you don't see any Abbey models after 2007 I had my eye on a 2007 Abbey 418GTS But compared to the 2007 Swift Challenger 540 the Swift all day far better van BTW if I have got it wrong please inform me
Sterling and Abbey were made side by side on the production line at Swift, being the same van with differing upholstery and decals denoting the two brands. If you find old price lists you will find the same layouts in each brand were priced exactly the same as each other to the penny.
