Thinking of buying a Hobby 720 to go on a seasonal site, does anyone own one ? or a static caravan ?. The only thing with a static is it is going to be a new site next year, so you dont know what the neighbours are like, also if we dont like it we cant just up and move it. It is giving me lack of sleep.
As its a caravan that can be towed, then it can be moved to a seasonal pitch on another site more easily than a mobile home which often cannot be moved as many sites only allow mobile homes supplied by them. As for actual caravan, check floor corners for rot as older Hobbys can be prone to this.

If you can find a Hobby 620 this is the only twin axle Hobby with body length just under 7m rather than just over, so legal to tow with with your X5 if you get fed up with seasonal pitch. 720 is only slightly longer but body just over 7m meaning it can only be towed with truck over 3.5t gvw, so with 720 you are committed to seasonal pitch.
Given up towing now, he says he's too old, hates it with a passion, esp the awning so seasonal pitch is till we give up caravans altogether, thats why we want the bigger tourer
we had a 2008 Hobby Excelsior. It was the 2.5metre wide one. While a big heavy brute to tow (we did it three times to France!) it would have made a super van for seasonal site. They are very winterised and easy to heat, solid and very good soundproofing. We had no problems with damp. We only sold ours as it was expensive to tow to France and we must be one of the few people who didn't really get on with a fixed bed layout.
