Hi im a total novice with this caravan malarky hence why im here to ask advice from you experts lol
The back left hand side has developed a little leak nothing major but want to get it sorted asap.
Im assuming the best thing to do is to seal along either side of the metal rail that runs from right to left along the back....dont really want to start unscrewing the rail off incase it turns into a real disaster
I very much doubt that it has only just developed, or that its not that bad a leak.
What evidence do you have of the leak? If you have actually got water coming in it will have gone an awful lot further than you could possibly imagine, and if water IS coming into the van it is usually because it has soaked everything there is to soak and it has nothing else to absorb it.
End of the day, it`s your van, if you want to run a bit of sealer over it then go for it. Bear in mind that what might be a simple repair could end up writing off the rear end of the van if ignored, though.
The quick bodge that I find is effective on an old caravan is to run beads of sealant around all exterior trim without removing anything. Clean with meths first then seal with PU sealant. PU 18 does the job for about £7 a cartridge off Amazon. Use only PU sealant not silicone or anything like that.
Cheers opensauce i think you know what im trying to say at the end of the day I know its a leak yes but its not that bad a leak to start tearing the caravan apart.....ill give the pu sealant a go and thanks for the reply appreciate it
